Myth: If my bottle of wine says “Made with Organic Grapes” on the label, it was also produced organically.

Fact: Wines that are “Made with Organic Grapes” can (and do) add chemicals during the winemaking process. There are two different tiers for organics in wine; one for organic grapes and one for wines produced organically with organic grapes. That’s why some of our competitors don’t say “Organic Wine” but only “Made with Organic Grapes” on their bottle labels.

Fact: We never add any chemicals during our winemaking process at Frey. Every bottle of our wine is organic from the vineyard to your glass, and that’s why all of our wines feature the USDA Organic seal on their labels, to show you that we started with organic grapes, AND we processed our wine organically. What About Biodynamic Wines?

Myth: All Biodynamic® wines are held to the same standard as Organic wines

Fact: Certified Biodynamic wines, like wines that are “Made with Organic Grapes,” are allowed to add chemicals during the winemaking process.

Fact: At Frey Vineyards, all of our Biodynamic wines are also certified Organic, meaning that we keep it organic from the grape to the glass. We never add any synthetic chemicals, preservatives or additives. That’s why all of our Biodynamic wine bottles feature BOTH the Demeter Biodynamic certification and the USDA Organic certification seals on their labels.
